When I became a new mom, my best friend said to me, “I have no idea what will be helpful for you right now… so please, tell me how I can be a good friend!” She’s amazing. ❤ Her comment got me thinking that before being a mom, I was in the same boat! I had no idea what actions or things would be helpful for a new mama.

So for those of you who are struggling to think of holiday gifts for the new moms in your life, I wanted to share five of my favorite things! They’re all incredibly simple and affordable. And truly… it is the thought that counts!!

1. 1. Burt’s bees almond & milk hand cream

      Mamas wash their hands constantly, and this can be particularly taxing to skin during winter months. This creamy lotion contains no alcohol, so it doesn’t burn if hands start cracking. Try their hand salve for those avoiding cow’s milk!

      Since becoming a mom, I’ve learned there are ways to look put together without dedicating 30 minutes to styling my hair each day. I swear by shower caps, dry shampoo, and hair accessories!

      Amazon has some great, vibrant shower caps so I can get more life out of the prior day’s style. And I religiously use Big Sexy Hair dry shampoo to beat the grease… typically I can get 3-4 days out of one wash! It’s a lifesaver.

      And when I don’t have time to style, a cute headband saves the day! I recommend Pieces to Peace’s black turban. Bonus — it’s a mom-owned small business!

      This was probably one of my favorite baby shower gifts. The recipient can pick any restaurant they wish. Great for a date night in, or night when meal planning falls to the wayside. Make sure to check the coverage for your region – you may have better luck with Uber Eats, Grubhub, or another brand.

      With neutral shades and just a few beads, this piece is subdued and goes with just about any outfit! At one year, my son still loves playing with this.

 

1. Babysitting
   Your time, free and priceless!

   I’ll add a caveat that if you offer this, make sure it’s something the mom is comfortable with. I would probably have only trusted my own mama with my son for the first six months. But, some friends came over and held my son while I did simple things like take a shower or catnap, and that was amazingly helpful and kind. Don’t underestimate the power of this gift!
