6 Thanksgiving Looks for Breastfeeding Moms

We’ve moved! Since creating this blog in 2017, we’ve launched Becoming Mama — artfully crafted fashions for bump to breastfeeding. Please visit our new blog for the latest and greatest. Happy mommy-ing!

What does your family Thanksgiving look like? Does Uncle Paul deep-fry a turkey in the backyard? Or does your great Aunt Thelma host a Pinterest-perfect affair that would put the Four Seasons to shame?

And more importantly… how does breastfeeding fit into your day?

I’m grateful to have a family that is supportive of our nursing journey, and I hope that’s your experience too. But if it’s not, having discrete access can be especially helpful in avoiding unwanted opinions.

Whatever awaits you this Thanksgiving, there’s a nursing-friendly outfit that will help you look and feel like the superwoman you are! Below are six outfit ideas for any setting.

Look: Casual

Try: Hailee C Flannel Blouse

My Size: Large

Price: Originally $64 (Poshmark has a M for $40 and XL for $19)

About this Look: My Stitchfix stylist picked this top out for me and I am so happy with the quality! It’s warm, flattering, and has cute details on the sleeves. Pair with jeans, leggings or a skirt. I’ve completed my look with Target’s Wenda Cut Out Booties ($32) – all the style of Free People’s similar bootie but at a fraction of the price! PS: How beautiful are my friends?! 🙂 Their hearts are equally gorgeous!

Look: Preppy

Try: J. Crew Perfect Fit Ikat Blouse

My Size: 10

Price: $21 secondhand on ThredUp (Poshmark has a size 6 for $24 and a size 8 for $25)

About this Look: This look is more about the overall style than this particular blouse. You can find several beautiful button downs on Poshmark, ThredUp, and other secondhand stores. Pair them with cords or tailored pants for a preppy look perfect for the rugby-playing family. My cords are Edyson and the heels are Cole Haan, both from an old Stitch.

Look: Cute and Comfy

Try: Roolee Easy Dress

My Size: L

Price: $39.99

About this Look: I love it when you don’t have to choose between looking cute and being comfy. This piece can be dressed up with a scarf, chunky jewelry or booties. Side zippers provide convenient and discrete nursing access.

Look: Warm and Classy

Try: Seraphine Double Zip Sweater

My size: XL

Price: Originally $76 (Similar Seraphine sweater for $65)

About this Look: While the sweater I’ve shown is no longer available, I have a few Seraphine double zip sweaters and each one is amazing. They’re nursing and pregnancy friendly, super warm, good quality, and the smooth zippers are gentle against your baby’s skin. Pair with leather leggings or faded jeans for a rock star look. I finished my style with Lucca Lane slip-on flats ($79) – by far my favorite shoe purchase this season.

Look: Feminine

Try: Ivy City Co’s Romance Me Dress

My size: Large

Price: $65 (Sign up for their newsletter to save 10%!)

About this Look: This lace and chiffon dress is stunning. Simply lift the crop top and zip the side for breastfeeding access. Add a long sweater to keep the chills away!

Look: Formal

Try: Harper & Bay Shift Nursing Dress in Navy Floral

My size: Large

Price: $78

About this Look: This velvety floral pattern is a stunning, rich texture for fall and winter. Available in knee and tea length, this modest style will have you looking perfect while chasing toddlers around. I love the front zip nursing access because it’s ideal for pumping and breastfeeding.
